A Typical Project

We were asked by the non-profit organization ACDI/VOCA to assist a group of farmers in Mongolia to establish a small vegetable processing plant. In true entrepreneurial spirit, this group of seven people combined their assets (a building, flour mill, two farm tractors and trailers, cattle, sheep, goats and a small amount of cash). The previous year this group had processed 8,ooo bottles of pickles in their home kitchens. Using their own building they wanted to start a pickle plant

Based on their previous effort and determination and their sizable personal investments, World Wide Canneries donated the basic equipment needed to process the food. The equipment was shipped to Mongolia, and a representative of World Wide Canneries traveled to the community to supervise the installation and teach them how to operate a business in a free enterprise, profit-driven market.

The founding members realize they could not have established the processing plant without the support of ACDI/VOCA and World Wide canneries. They now have the opportunity of building a better future for their families. The community has a place to sell its farm products and a new employment opportunity. The future is brighter for everyone.
